Under Pressure

Wrecks and Reefs

       REEFS

There are two main reef systems that run parallel to our shoreline.  The first one is in forty feet and the next one in sixty feet.  There is broken reef that lies closer to shore and easily accessible at a depth of fifteen feet.  But the landward facing edge of the outer reef (50'-60') by far holds the best of our reef diving. Inhabitants in this area include just about every species of fish in Paul Humann's books.  For the more adventurous divers there are some large coral heads and deeper reefs that lie in ninety to one hundred thirty feet.  These areas are less frequented by the majority of divers.  The currents are generally light to medium through this area and parallel the reefs.  This makes perfect conditions for drift diving and since the Under Pressure only takes six divers per trip, you have the freedom to dive in pairs if you choose.  We also let our divers set their own profiles giving you all the time you need to explore at your own pace!

WRECKS

Just outside the Hillsboro inlet lies dozens of wrecks , by far the most aggressive artificial reef program ever launched.  These wrecks range in depths from thirty feet to as deep as three hundred feet with the large number of them between seventy and one hundred thirty.  There is wreck diving here for any level diver, beginner all the way through technical.  Most all of these wrecks are diver friendly meaning doors removed, wiring stripped out, etc.  There are also a few locations where you can drift multiple wrecks in the same dive !!  So if wrecks are your thing you won't be disappointed here.  Below is a list of a few of my personal favorites but this is only the tip of the iceburg.  All sites listed below are within twenty minutes from the inlet and average one to two miles from shore.
